Genre Research :Drama and Thriller

 

Drama: Common Lighting is lowkey, side, hard, and cinematic. Common angles are ;medium, over the shoulder, close up, and extreme close up. Common movements are horizontal movement, vertical movement, and hand- held movement.

Costume: Fits the time period or setting of the film.

Lighting: It is low key lighting.

Acting:Dramatic, sometimes emotional.

Props: cars, cellphones, houses.

Setting: A setting that can portray a real-life situation. Elements: Interenal conflicts, external and heavy emotions. Example films: Titanic and Moonlight. Common sounds are music, sound effects, and human voices, Elements I like are external conflict and tension. Elements I don't like are the heavy emotions. 


Thriller: Common lighting is low-key lighting. It is often used to display dim shadows. Also creates a dark and scary atmosphere. Furthermore, back lighting. The light is places behind the person or object. Makes the person look surrounded. Another one is under lighting. This lighting shows the under of the character. It forms big shadows. It also keeps the identity of the character. 

Common camera angles are high angles, close ups, tilted, low angle, long shot, hand held, point of view, and over the shoulder. 

Common movement is tracking in thriller. It is used to follow the character and its actions. Doesn't ruin the surprise for the viewers, It also builds suspense. 

Common Mis-En Scene

Props:Weapons are used a lot. they tend to show the violence and risk being put forth. Lighting is low key to create the suspenseful atmosphere. Setting creates an intense atmospshere. Costumes respresent the character. Examples for thrillers are The Fugitive and Gone Girl. Common sounds are high pitched violins and fast paced music. The elements I like are the suspense and tension. The ones I don't like are the leading role or the close role, having to die.
